As you can see, I got portrait-mode to work better for me, but sometimes it's not the camera that is giving you a hard time! Torrie ALWAYS closes her eyes, no matter how you count for her, or how well you try to catch her off-guard.
For this reason, I switched to a mode that allowed for continuous shots, and which ended up catching both the primary shot of eyes-closed, but also two subsequent shots when she re-opens her eyes, allowing the portrait to be captured despite the subject's natural tendency. The only issue is that next time I should use a larger aperture in order to garner more light on both Torrie and the background.
